Alleged Corruption: Court To Rule On Ngige Bail Application On December 18

Published on December 16, 2025 04:46 AM

A Federal High Court has fixed December 18 to deliver ruling on the bail application filed by former Labour Minister Chris Ngige.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned ruling on the bail application filed by former Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, to December 18, 2025. Ngige is facing an eight-count charge of alleged corruption and diversion of N2.2 billion public funds during his tenure as minister. His lawyers argued that he should be granted bail on liberal terms, citing his age, health condition, and the fact that he is not a flight risk. However, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) opposed the bail application, arguing that Ngige might interfere with witnesses if released. The judge promised to carefully consider all arguments before delivering the ruling.
